Janis Hovi was born and raised in Ontario, Canada. She graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and from the University of Ottawa with a Master of Health Administration. More recently, she graduated from Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania with a Master of Social Work. Clinical experience in the mental health field has included addiction and recovery, trauma, anxiety, and depression with adults, children, adolescents, and families. Modalities utilized in practice include but are not limited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), play, and attachment theory. Janis has always enjoyed working with children from being a nurse on a Pediatric floor in Canada to volunteering with children in scouting and other children’s programs, PTA President as well as a piano and substitute teacher in Illinois. After living in Illinois for over 20 years, Janis, her husband, and 5 children moved to Utah in the summer of 2017. It is a decision they have not regretted as they have enjoyed all Utah has to offer including mountain hikes, sports, dining, and all the cultural arts events they have been fortunate to experience
