About Laura:

Laura was born and raised right here in Utah. She grew up with a fascination with babies and young children. In high school she got an amazing experience working with kids with medical complexity as a volunteer at a Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) camp, and she fell in love with the medical field.

She completed her undergraduate at Weber State University and received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked as an RN for ten years, starting in postpartum and the well-baby nursery and then moving to Primary Children’s Pediatric ICU. As she has cared for children from birth to teenagers, she has grown to love the full spectrum of pediatrics.

In 2019, Laura completed her Doctorate of Nursing at the University of Utah and became board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner. Her doctoral project focused on improving the education of families with children newly diagnosed with Spina Bifida.

Laura has worked as a nurse practitioner at Primary Children’s for three years, focusing on improving access to medical care and mitigating social determinants of health in families with children with medical complexity. After years of working with children with medical complexities, Laura is excited to work in primary care.

Laura’s approach to pediatric healthcare is to ensure each child grows up happy and healthy, stepping in as needed along the way. She believes that parents are the experts in assessing their child’s health and condition. If you and your family need more support, Laura is ready to help every step along the way and will guide you through the healthcare system.

At home, Laura has two busy little boys and 15 chickens to take care of. That’s on top of the backyard renovation project that keeps her plenty busy. She also loves to cook, crochet, and craft. So send her all your Pinterest ideas.

Parent Feedback

I wish everyone could have a doctor like my kids have at families first. We have been coming here for around 10 years, and they are amazing. They genuinely care about my kids. Their primary doctors are Sheri Bangerter and Brady Watkins, so those two are my favorites, but we’ve seen many others for sick or urgent visits and they’ve all been great. The front desk staff and all the nurses are amazing, too. They respond quickly to texts and there’s an after hours nurse that you can call for urgent but non emergency issues. They’ve all been so helpful and caring. The doctors have been very thorough with their care, listen to our concerns and give us options to choose from. I’ve never felt so respected and well cared for in any medical environment. The rooms are amazing, too, with murals on every patient room wall. My kids love coming here.
