We absolutely LOVE families first!!! We have been going for 7 years and all the Dr's. Are amazing! They make you feel heard and cared about every time we go in! My kids love going to the Drs!!
Dr. Matthew “Toby” Cox grew up in Newtown, Connecticut and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry from Colby College, in Maine. He followed it up with a Doctorate of Medicine from St. Louis University, in 1995, and finished everything off with a three-year pediatric residency at Northwestern University, in Chicago. In 1998, he came to Utah and worked at a private practice in Layton, Wee Care Pediatrics. He also earned a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Utah.
In 2001, he, along with Mike Johnson and Dallen Ormond, got the wild idea for Families First Pediatrics. The first office opened in October of that year and is still going strong. Toby sees kids of all ages, from birth to 20 years old, and has had the humbling experience of seeing former patients age out of his care, only to reappear with their own children.
His wife is a Neonatologist with The University of Utah and Intermountain and they have 3 adult children. In his spare time, he enjoys ice hockey, snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, and recovering from injuries sustained from these activities. He’s also a self-proclaimed music geek. Ask him what his favorite concert of the year was!
