Carian McLean is originally from Chicago, though has lived all over the country. She attended Oberlin College where she majored in Psychology. After completing her first degree, Carian returned to school for Nursing at University of Massachusetts. Then, she received a Master’s of Nursing from the State University of New York, where she also certified as a Nurse Midwife. Carian received a Postgraduate Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner from Frontier Nursing University.
Carian worked as a counselor and Nurse at Planned Parenthood before becoming a Nurse-Midwife. She worked in her neighborhood near Chicago, serving the female-bodied individuals of her community. After moving to Utah in 2020, Carian worked at Primary Children’s Wasatch Canyons Behavioral Health, as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
Carian is a supporter of holistic work-life balance, finding her own through ceramics. In her home studio Carian enjoys creating and throwing functional pottery. The process of wedging, centering, and shaping clay act as meditative exercises. centering herself through the creative process.
