Beat the Heat: Splash Pads & Pools
On a warm, summer day, there’s no better way to beat the heat than to go to the nearest splash pad, swimming pool, or reservoir. With options all around the city, there’s a spot for everyone to cool down this summer. Keep in mind, the splash pads in Herriman are open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Here are a few favorites:
J. Lynn Crane Plaza
- Right off Main Street and Black Locust Way, across from Herriman City Hall, J. Lynn Crane Plaza can be found at 13082 S Fort Herriman Pkwy, Herriman, UT 84096. Map it.
- In addition to the splash pad, the park has great play areas (one for toddlers and another for older kids) with climbing areas and a zipline that is always a park favorite!
- With this being a newer park, there isn’t a lot of shade. So, protect your child’s skin and pack your sunscreen, sunhats, and consider bringing your own shade umbrella or canopy.
- Grassy areas, benches, restrooms, and a large parking lot make it easy to hang out with friends and splash the day away.
Umbria Estates Park
- Just off Mountain View Corridor and 12600 South, Umbria Estates Park is tucked in a neighborhood off Ashfield Drive at 12790 S Brundisi Way (5230 W), Herriman, UT 84096. Map it.
- In addition to the splash pad, the park area is close by, which makes it easy for kids to go between activities.
- With soccer fields at the park, there’s a ton of grass and open space near the splash pad.
- Pavilions, tables, restrooms, and parking make it a family-friendly spot to visit.
Rosecrest Splash Pad
- North of Blackridge Elementary School off Rosecrest Lane, Rosecrest Splash Pad is at 14070 S Rosecrest Road, Herriman, UT 84096. Map it.
- The grassy area around the splash pad makes this a great spot for a picnic and hangout.
- In addition to the splashpad, there is a pavilion, tables, and a small playground.
- While this is a smaller splashpad, it doesn’t seem to get too busy, making it perfect for kids who might get overwhelmed when there is a lot going on.
Black Ridge Reservoir
- Nestled in the Black Ridge Herriman Community, Black Ridge Reservoir is at 15000 South Ashland Ridge Drive (5390 West) Herriman, UT 84096. Map it.
- With sandy beaches, a playground, and a natural body of water, Black Ridge Reservoir is great for spending the day building sandcastles, paddleboarding, and enjoying the hillside.
- While it is free to use the reservoir, a $15 all-day parking fee applies to the Black Ridge Reservoir parking lot on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays from May 1st to September 7th.
- The reservoir is tucked inside a Herriman neighborhood. When visiting, be sure to be courteous with the neighbors, obey the speed limits, utilize the Black Ridge parking lot, or follow parking laws on neighboring streets.

J.L. Sorenson Recreation Center – Indoor Swimming Pool
- Right off Main Street next to the Herriman Library, J.L Sorenson Rec Center is at 5350 Main St, Herriman, UT 84096. Map it.
- The interactive indoor pool offers fun for all ages, including water slides, giant dumping buckets, a lily pad crossing, and everyone’s favorite—a lazy river.
- With shallow and deeper areas, the pool has different areas designed for toddlers and older kids as well.
- The large lap pool offers eight lanes and 3-meter and 1-meter diving boards for the more experienced swimmers.

Fort Herriman Towne Days
- While the 2025 Herriman Towne Days just ended, you’ll want to add June 13-20, 2026, to your calendar.
- This is the largest Herriman city event of the year, with a variety of activities throughout the week that the whole family can enjoy.
- The fun-filled week includes carnivals, food trucks, movie nights, parades, car shows, fun runs, fireworks, concerts, and more.

Pixar Golf at Herriman Village
- Located in Mountain View Village just east of Panera Bread, Pixar Golf is at 13303 S Teal Ridge Way, Riverton, UT 84096. Map it.
- An outdoor mini golf-course with 18 themed holes inspired by beloved Pixar films like Toy Story, Monsters, Inc., Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and more

Hiking Trails in Herriman
Whether you feel the need for a shaded hike with a small creek up Yellow Fork Canyon or an adventurous mountain bike on the Butterfield trail, Herriman is loaded with so many trails to keep your kids busy. Here is some more information on many trails in the area.
