We've been going to Families First for nearly 10 years. We've seen many providers and loved them all. I love that I can get in quickly when my kids are hurt or sick. No doubt they have the best pediatricians in the valley.
Kayla earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Utah in 2015 before earning a Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Westminster College in 2018. After graduating, Kayla worked in residential treatment, helping families navigate crises.
Experiences in healthcare prior to earning her degree inform the way Kayla works as a clinician. She enjoys working with kids and families to overcome all of life’s challenges, but especially with adolescents struggling with depression, anxiety, substance abuse, and trauma. Seeing a kid struggle with a roadblock then find a way to get around or through it is what it’s all about.
Kayla has been trained to use DBT, CBT, EMDR, sand tray and ACT, and is always learning new strategies and tactics for helping her patients. More than that, she’s focused on how interpersonal processes can be used to help clients both as individuals and as members of a family and a community. If she’s not in the office and she’s not traveling, you can find Kayla curled up in a tent beneath a tree or reading a good book.
